Week 8 Part Two

Visual Media is a very good thing when it comes to my business, as I like to market myself online and do that through Instagram and Youtube. Often, as a personal trainer, people like to know or see that what you are doing, is working. I like to post training videos and videos of my clients training almost daily. I use Instagram stories, snapchat, Instagram video and youtube videos to show my workout routines and even meals that I eat throughout the day.

I have a ton of friends who use visual social media for their businesses. Almost everyone in my industry is turning to visual social media to show their work, to show client progress, to show what the fitness life is about. YouTube has become one of the most popular forms of visual social media. Many of my fitness friends and people I look up to use YouTube to run their businesses. It is very effective. People like to see and watch what goes on in the daily life of some of my peers. I notice that in my profession, its about engagement and YouTube has opened up many doors to engage with people from all over the world. Most of the users I follow post at least twice a week. Usually they post more and this again, is because of the engagement factor. I notice that some do it on certain days, as people start to look forward to the posts, and I notice that some businesses post randomly. I like to follow people in my business who already have a lot of followers, to see what they are doing to be successful. They receive a lot of comments, and they also answer every single one as well.

Another very popular visual social media source is Instagram. I have many friends who make a killing from posting and getting clients from Instagram, and it is all through pictures and videos. Again, I like to follow people who inspire me but also have a good following so I can better see what they are doing to grow their following. Instagram is great because you can post daily, you can post several times a day to keep people following along. I notice that the people I follow and look up to post 1-3 times a day. Usually it consists of a video, flexing picture, food picture or quote. I can see that people like realness, people like to follow along with struggle, people like to see that people they look up to go through the trials and tribulations of daily life. People like to see the good and the bad, that you can overcome and push through obstacles. I notice thats what a lot of posts are about and I love how they incorporate visuals with this, its very impacting. The likes usually match with the following, I can tell that these people have real followers and the engagement is high.

Alternate Assignment for Part 1: Week 8: Get Visual

Which media you are using, how many followers you have and how effective it is for your business.  How often do you post? What sort of hashtags do you use? How many other businesses do you follow?

My most popular account for my business and the one that I use most, is Instagram. My Instagram name is @getz_fitt and I have 29,000 followers. I am a personal trainer, so I often post photos of what I eat, short clips of workouts and just my daily routine. I also use the story feature of Instagram when it comes to my clients. I like to record parts of their workout and show it on my story to keep people interactive. This is effective for my business because it draws people in with the tips and clips of my workouts. I always put that I am a personal trainer, and I give my E-mail  at the end of most posts for people to contact me from there after viewing my pictures and clips. I post daily, sometimes up to four times a day. I use hashtags that go with the day and always #fitfam, fitspo, fitness, motivation, inspiration, weight loss, abs , cardio , personatrainer, fitnessmotivation and many more depending on what day it is! I follow about 2,000 other people, I wouldn't say all of them are businesses. I like to follow trainers that I can learn from and businesses that I can follow to grow my business. Often times I will have businesses contact me to promote their product, which in turn, promotes me and my page!

Scheduled Facebook Posts

1. Today, or tonight, I am posting the leg workout that I did. I always like posting my workouts because it inspires people to go to the gym, or even just do a home workout. It draws people in to see who I am, what I do, and shows them that I want to help.  I think me posting my full workout will engage people because a lot of people are lost when it comes to routines or finding what to do in the gym. So, this will lead them in the right direction.

2. I posted a quote with a picture that will appear tomorrow morning. I find through Instagram that people really like this. Most the time it is a motivating factor when it comes to a picture with a quote. A lot of times people will resonate with the quote and if the picture is badass, they will be more motivated as they resonate.

3. Lastly, I posted a shoulder exercise. Its very hard for people to get their shoulders sore or find ways to workout their shoulders. As in the first post, I post tips on how to workout, so people have something to do in the gym. It motivates me when I plan out my workout first sometimes as well. It also motivates me when I find a new exercise, I tend to want to go workout more just so I can try it! This is a burn out as well, so not only is it a good exercise to do, but it will fatigue your shoulders in all the right ways. I love following people who give out tips on movements and if I like them aesthetically, I want to try it even more!

My liked pages on Facebook

List the businesses you choose to like as your page. Discuss why you chose the businesses you did. How might you use this feature of Facebook to grow your business?

1.Paige Hathaway
2.Brad Schoenfeld
3.Stuart Phillips
4.Mike Matthews
5.Bret Contreras
6.Lyle McDonald
7.World Gym San Diego

The reason I chose these pages, is that they are all people who I look up to. I learn a lot about the body from each and every one of them. Many of them have PHD's in exercise science and some are really good at marketing, I follow each one for both reasons. Paige Hathaway is one of the top sought after fitness models, I like to see what she is doing, because she is doing something right. 2-6 are all very scientific in what they post, its important for me to keep up on new topics and ways of changing the body so I can better help my clients. World gym I follow because it is my home gym. I like to support them as much as I can and all the fitness competitors in there.

  1. Define the difference between post reach and post engagement.
Post reach is going to be how many people your video reached or people saw your video. You can see how many people actually looked at it. Post engagement is going to be the likes or comments that people posted on or to your video, also who may have shared it. Once shared, it can reach many more people!
  1. Why is knowing the difference important and how does it serve the customers?
The difference is very important because you can see if It is targeting people outside of your page, this way your business can become more well known as far as reach goes. I have not paid for my videos or photos to be reached too far outside my community, so I only have organic views as of now. It's just interesting to see how many people are seeing the video as far as post reach goes. Once you see that you can see what kind of posts are more popular than others. I notice that my videos have a higher reach, but the photos I post have a higher engagement! This is all good to know when you are trying to expand a business, to see what works more. They are two totally different tools to use when it comes to marketing and business. Engagement is always good because people want to see what people have to say about your posts or business. Reach is always good because the more you reach, the more impact you can make and expand.
