Week 5, Post 2- Target Market

GetzFitt at JordynGetz.com

Personal Training and Health Coaching

My target market is going to be people who want to create a healthier lifestyle and create more happiness in their lives. I train with both males and females, people who want to make a positive change and create more happiness with health. I want to train people who may be overweight or are unsatisfied with what direction their bodies are going. I want to transform their lives through fitness and through education about nutrition.

Week 5, Post 1- Diapers

As far as noticing obvious differences, both of these websites advertise diapers. Right away you can see that one diaper is most likely more expensive than the other. When you have the word “Econo” apart of the name, you come to the conclusion that it is environmental friendly. Usually, most environmental products are going to be more expensive, especially when the name of the other site is “justcheapdiapers.com”. There as an easy difference right away just in looking in the name. They both target different demographics.

Another difference when viewing the websites are the colors that they use. The Econo website has more earth tone colors, which makes sense because they're diapers that are safe for the environment. The cheap diapers website has very loud colors, which also makes sense, as they are at a discount. Any time a product has a discount, I notice that they use colors to stand out, so the person notices the discount right away! I hate to say, the cheap diapers website looks like a cheaper website as well. When you view the Econo website it looks a lot more professional, as you can see pictures changing and the layout used. When you view the cheap diapers website, it is just kind of plain and a little boring.

As far as the target market for Econobum goes, it is for people who are conscious about the environment and making sure their babies are clothed with the best product. They explain that they want to, “keep your baby dry, save money and prevent excessive landfill waste.” This is a great product for people who want to help “save” the planet. They are reusable and washable. They sell a one size fits all diaper, so you don’t have to keep buying new ones as the child grows. They also donate to missionary families, sheltering wings orphanage and families in need.  I think that they have created a wonderful product, and even if you’re spending a little more, it makes more sense because the diapers will last longer!

As far as the target market goes for the cheap diapers website, I think it is geared more towards people who just want something cheap and fast. They have three sizes you can choose from and they are all sold at wholesale pricing. There's not really too much to say about this website but its just, “high quality diapers at a really cheap price.”

I think both websites hit their target market just fine. I think that the cheap diapers website may get more traffic because most people want cheap and if they type in cheap in the search engine, thats what they will get. I like the idea of the Econo diapers more, as they end up being cheaper in the long run. Yet, the Econo website probably won’t come up first when you type in cheap for the search word! They both get to the point as to what their products are. I think that people should definitely click on a few links before they decide what diapers to get, even if cheap is their main goal. Cheap can actually end up being more expensive, depending on how many diapers you go through!

Blog Week Four Post Two: Two websites I use/visit frequently

I think this website is very effective. Model Mayhem is almost like a Facebook for models, or people wanting to break into that industry, (which includes a lot of different jobs other than modeling). It is a website for amateur and professional models, photographers, makeup artists and hairstylists to connect and build portfolios or book jobs! I love this site! It is especially great if you are looking to break into some type of industry that involves any of the professions. This website connects people together and it has worked great for me when it comes to fitness modeling. Sometimes it is expensive to book a shoot, and with this site, you can work with photographers for free who are trying to build up their portfolios! I check it almost every day. The design is fun, right when you get to the website they have pictures of models and photography done. You can either click and play around, or jump around from there. You can also skip all that and just go to your page and inbox. The website has many different search areas that are easily accessible. This is such an awesome site for pros and beginners.  I have gotten offered to do paid work being an amateur, so it is an incentive for me to keep in shape and keep building my portfolio for future jobs! As far as being improved, I have noticed that sometimes my mail does not always show. I had a message sent for paid work and was never notified. I think it was a glitch in the system. Also, it can be a little confusing when you are looking for work and want to put in specific terms. I usually post to the site, saying my availability instead of looking, as I can get confused! I think they could make the searching for jobs area a little more user friendly.

This is another website I visit daily. This website is basically an archive of workouts, updated daily for new routines to follow. I like visiting the site if I need some inspiration for my workouts or even inspiration for some cooking tips! I mostly use the website for the workouts though. Joe Donnelly is a retired football player who has no nonsense workouts. He is one of the very few people who I trust with workouts, because he is more advanced. Most workouts usually aren’t hard enough or don’t have the complex movements I need, but his workouts really keep me interested! In his website, he has different sections and drop down tabs. It is very organized and I can get to what I need to fast. I often check it right before I workout, and need to check it fast most the time. I know the exact area I need to go into and it is easily accessible! If you aren’t a member, the page opens right to being able to join or look at the free stuff offered. I usually sign in right away. Once signed in, the world of workouts and meals are opened up! It is awesome, and again for me, easily accessbile. What keeps me coming back are the workouts. It shows Monday through Sunday and you can just click on the day or body part wanted! As far as being improved, the website does take a second to load sometimes. I actually really like the layout and simplicity of the site. When I sign in, everything is very clear and clean. There are not a ton of distractions and like I said, I get to what I need to get to, fast! Maybe he can add a few more photos, but I wouldn't want it to take away from the content too much. I really enjoy this site, then again, I just use it for the workouts!

Aesthetics, Design & Branding

  1. Choose two of the following websites and identify at least three potential problems for visitors.
  2. What could be improved on these websites and why would these improvements help?

The first website I chose was http://www.headhunterhairstyling.com, to talk about 3 negatives and how I think they could improve. When I visited this website, the pictures they used didn’t really draw me in and they also looked a little outdated. The blog section has not been updated for more than a few months and the colors were not very engaging when it came to me wanting to look at the website more. I wasn’t drawn in. So, as far as improvements go, I think they need a little more upkeep on their website. I feel that in order to draw in business, they should have a website that makes people want to look and find out more about it. Right away, the colors and the pictures were off to me. I didn’t really have any urge to navigate more. Also, when there is a blog, I love to see new content, especially in a business like this. I like to see that they are keeping up with new trends and so fourth. The website was just dull to me and it was mostly the lack of upkeep that threw me off.

The next website I chose was, http://www.pennyjuice.com. As far as problems with the website goes, you need flash player to even open this website. I don’t download flash from unknown websites or usually at all, because it messes with my computer. Therefore, with no flash for this website, I can’t even see the product and have no clue what this website is about! I think that they should go through a website service or provider that all people can open, with or without Flash Player. It’s a bummer when you get to a site and can’t even see what they are about because you need flash player. It diverts me away immediately!

  1. Choose two of the following websites and identify what they have done right.
  2. How does design, aesthetics and branding impact your reaction to the websites?
When I checked out http://www.stonebrewing.com, I was drawn in right away. I love the picture layouts on the main page of the website. It shows all the locations and each location has a different link to click, which is super helpful if you don’t live near one and have to go to one. It's just nice that you can choose from a few, and the landing page also has careers and tours as well. The website is laid out so it is easy to navigate. I like how you  have to show you are of age as well before continuing on the website tour! The pictures are what usually draw me in, and when they are done well and show the brand well, I will most likely check out the website to see if its something I’m interested in. I definitely wanted to check out this website more, and I don't even like beer! If the layout looks good to me, I will also keep navigating to see if the layout may be a good idea for my website! I like the drop down menus and how everything has a picture to it. I like how I can see all their products along with the names. Again, Im very visual and its nice to know exactly what I would be getting if I wanted to visit their spots! I Love the layout and the easiness of the website. It's easily accessible and the colors and pictures drew me in!

The second website I chose for what is done right, is http://www.apple.com. This may sound weird, but I love how “clean” their website is. There is not too much going on, the black and white make it nice to look at. The minimalism and showing of only a few products at a time, make you want to see more. It is not cramped up at all. The website has all the products categorized, and based on what product you want, it is easy to find. They always show or mention the products that aren’t released on the landing page too, to keep you intrigued and wanting more. The large photos make the products easy to look at and give you an idea of just what you would be getting. I like that it doesn’t have my eyes going 100 MPH and I keep wanting to dig deeper and deeper to see all the product versions they offer, just by showing me one!

  5. Add the date of the last post on each of their their social media
  6. Write a short analysis of their use of social media - Are these businesses using their social media well? Do they use some more than others?
  7. After analyzing the 5 businesses, write several paragraphs explaining what you discovered from collectively from this exploration.

Paige Hathaway is one of the top fitness icon models and trainers. She uses her social media really well, and I would say shemostely uses Instagram. She is always updating on her story and her timeline, she links it to all of her other accounts. I would say, it is super smart of her to link most things, she even links clips from Instagram to Youtube, even when her Youtube isn't updated. Very smart with marketing.

Katy Hearn Fit

It looks like Facebook and twitter are used the least - Updated November
Instagram is used the most- Saturday February 11
She has two pages for Instagram which is really smart, she has one of just training videos and another of mostly picture content. She began her video page once she got big on Instagram. I would say that she uses Instagram as her marketing mostly, which is what I do as well. Her content is very clear and professional.
Anthony Perez

Facebook page is no longer there
Youtube -3 months ago
Instagram -Thursday February 9
What I like about Anthony is his engagement with all of his followers. He has A HUGE following and still responds to everyone. He works hard and shows that in his Instagram, and mostly through videos. His engagement is what makes him different than most, he really cares about his following.

Shelby Starnes

Shelby gets most of his business by showing the clients that he works with. He posts a lot about the foods he eats and just how everything intertwines with the body I think that showing his work through other people is very smart. The others above do this as well, but most how his transformations are drastic, shows that he really knows what he is doing with his training.Emily Hayden

Instagram- Today and once daily
Twitter- today updated mostly every two hours
 Youtube- Today -two hours ago
The awesome thing about Emily is that she is on top of every social media outlet. She is linking them, and keeping every channel updated daily. She really shows that she cares about the people that she helps and it shows through in what she talks about in her videos and in her words. I am seeing that mostly everything or all the social media outlets trickle into YouTube. YouTube is her main outlet to get out what information she needs to. She markets really well and keeps everything synced and updated.

Overall, each person I found through Instagram. Each person uses mostly four of the main social media outlets: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. I think that each person definitely "sells" or "markets" differently. Some use multiple pages and some use only a few. All in all, most of the sites are linked together, which is very smart and definitely is good for time management. This definitely shows me that it is possible to use all social media outlets, not just one. I have been trying to get on the YouTube train more, and feel like I am always too late to start. Looking how other people market, and how they tie things in together, definitely gives me more hope that I can do all those things as well.

I feel that the thing they all have in common as well is responding to their followers on every single post. They are also posting things in which directly correlate with their business, nothing too personal or off topic. They each have a unique way of marketing, yet the most important thing is their engagement with the people who follow them. I think that it is so important to personally get back to every person and show each person that you are genuinely interested in helping them reach their goals. Each persons content is also very professional looking. What I mean by that is, their photos are all really well taken, and they are posted for a reason.

I feel like I do a lot of what they are doing, but at the same time can't seem to get my following up lately. I am trying to get to the root of them problem, yet it may take a little more looking at things to find what I can do better, and also use my time more wisely. I do know that I can post client's progress more and possibly focus on YouTube more often. I think I need to channel my voice a little more clearly. Doing this exercise opened my eyes to how hard these people work. I know that if I want to get ahead of the game I have to comment back on all my posts and possibly just put a little bit more effort out.

Blog Post Week 3 Part 1- Social Media and Business

As far as difficulty experienced with a business, I have been lucky in mostly all my purchases. There is only one incident that I can think of, and it was a purchase made through Ebay. Unfortunately, this person never sent the product, never gave a refund and never got back to any of my messages. I had to contact Ebay about it, and the only thing I could do at that point, was give them a negative review. This doesn't really have to do with social media at all, but this has been the only problem I have encountered when I had ordered a product.

I do notice that, if a business has an Instagram or Facebook, and someone comments negatively, the brand will respond immediately. All in all, no one wants a bad review, and wants to show that they care about their customers when other people visit their page. So, yes, I do think that social media gets the problem solved faster. When someone brings up a product, I immediately go to Instagram or Facebook to find it. I often check Yelp as well. I think social media is huge when it comes to reviews about a product or service!

I have had many positive experiences communicating through social media! Half of the products I buy, I find through Instagram. When I purchase an item, many of the business' will personally thank me. Most of the time I buy clothing and will shout the company out. Sometimes I will have companies reach out to me so they can send me a free product to shout them out. Social media has been a great marketing tool for me and other companies as far as Instagram goes.

On my social media, I run my business through Instagram. Honestly, I delete many comments as they can be very hateful and disrespectful. Sometimes I will kill them with kindness. If I did sell something and someone didn't like it, I would most likely shoot them an e-mail and see how we can get to some kind of resolution. I would never blame anyone, but rather, see how I can become better from the whole situation. There will be a lot of people in our lives that aren't going to agree with everything that we do, and thats ok. Its important to not take it personally and either come to a resolution, give a refund or see how you can improve your product and/or services.

Overview of Social Media Use

Overview of Social Media Use

As far as social media goes, all platforms can be used for personal use. I know that I use Instagram as personal and business, Facebook as personal and YouTube for Business. I think it depends on if you have your own business, what you are trying to get out into the world, or what your motives are for social media. As far as Ive seen, each platform can be used differently. Social Media is a great way to get a business started and really connect with people all over the world. Yet, I feel that if you are getting a business started, you are vulnerable personally either way. With my business, people follow me because of who I am and what I have done with my body. Then, they want to know more about how they can do it too. Instagram is where I put most of my time into.

I don't think one works more than another. I think that more than anything, the content is what is important, and also, how you are trying to reach people. I, personally have had success on Instagram, but there are many girls in the same profession as me that have a lot of success on YouTube and Facebook. I think it depends on what you want to hone in on. If I am on too many social platforms at once, I have a hard time getting everything I need to get, done. I do think it is important to utilize a few, but you need to know what kind of audience you want to target as well. Most of my business is visual, I post workouts and what I eat. I seem to do well with that with pictures and videos. YouTube is a great way to do video tutorials and Instagram is a great way to lead people to your website and also post clips of videos or photos to draw people in and lead them in the right direction.

I think Facebook is a great way to reach a larger audience as well, especially if you have the money for ads and to reach a bigger demographic. Instagram lets you pay for ads or pay people for shoutouts as well. All social media sites are now starting to let you be able to connect from one another. Sometimes I'll post on Instagram and link it to Facebook and twitter, then just go on with my day. You can do the same for Youtube with videos now as well. Again, there are many ways to utilize social media, just depends on how you want to spend your time and energy.
